The Purpose of Peotry Poem

March 21, 2014 by Jaylen

In “The Purpose of Poetry” by Jared Carter the title and the last line are tied together. The story in between the title and the last line gives an example of the purpose of poetry. The purpose of poetry is the theme of the poem which means that life isn’t always pleasant and the story is an example of that.

Book Review of Secret Garden

April 12, 2013 by Jaylen

How would you feel if your parents died of disease, and you had to live with a family member you had no idea existed? “Secret Garden” by Frances H. Burnett portrays a girl’s life in which this happened, and describes exactly how she feels in her situation. Find the time to read this book, and you will never regret it!

Little did Mary know that, when she moved to her uncle’s, that she would be moving into a mansion. Mary finds out many secrets while walking through the long corridors of her uncle’s mansion, but those secrets are ones you will have to find out yourself. then there’s this secret garden she hears about. Will she find it, or will the secret garden remain a mystery?

My favorite part of the book is all of it! “Secret Garden” has a lot of surprises and mysteries, and that’s why I love it. Like, when Mary found out that her parents died of some kind of disease….. Now that’s interesting.

“Secret Garden” has everything that a mystery reader would love! I give this book a 9 out of 10 because a book can never be perfect. “Secret Garden” is close though, and would be a great book to read during your free time.
